- The Tower of Town Guards, connected to the Duke’s Palace, is an example of military architecture – built to serve the military. It was built of high-quality stone against the interior side of western wall. The Tower was devoid of any architectonic ornaments. In the 1979 earthquake it was destroyed to such extent that it had to be taken down to the first floor and then restored in stone to the original size.
