• Ahu Ko Te Riku is 5.1 metres (16.7ft) high that was restored with all the elements that were on the old finished statues.
• On the head is a pukao, a round piece carved in red scoria from the Puna Pau volcano. There are two different opinions, some say it is a hat, while others say it is a hair bun, it was placed on top in the last phase of the construction of the ahu. The tops are placed on the moais' centre of gravity and not fastened in place.
• It is the only moai that has eyes of the whole island (eyes restored, made of cement not coral). When a moai was placed on the ahu, the eye sockets were carved and his eyes, made of white coral with obsidian pupils, were inserted. At that time the statue was considered to come alive and could project the mana (spiritual power to protect its tribe).
